Matthew R. Grundy, Attorney at Law
Matt focuses his practice on the representation of disabled persons seeking Social Security disability benefits in Kansas City, Missouri, Missouri. Assisting those who are unable to work allows Matt to fulfill the reason he wanted to go into social security law, to help people.
As a seventh generation Clay County resident and fourth generation attorney Matt has a deep respect for the Mid-West work ethic of those he represents. Matt earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law in May 2001.
Matt is a member of the Missouri and Kansas Bars, a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives as well as a long time member of the Clay County and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations. As a social security lawyer, he is admitted and licensed to practice in both the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas.
When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters (and taking them all fishing when he can).
Karen Cyzick, Director of Operations
Karen Cyzick, Director of Operations, has a significant Social Security Disability background having worked for the Agency adjudicating Social Security disability claims from 1981 – 1994 before leaving government work to utilize her knowledge and management skills in the private community. In 1994, she approached a general practice firm with the vision to specialize in disability law. She played a key role in the development, growth and management of firm activities in developing a business model to efficiently guide clients through every step of the complex disability process.
She has been uniquely involved in several pilot projects with the Social Security Administration’s electronic file development testing and in the launch of the national teleconferencing project for video hearings.
Karen graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979.
In 2009, she was invited to join a group of industry leaders in the disability arena focused on brainstorming and sharing best practices in disability law firm management.
She is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Representatives (NOSSCR) attending yearly conferences to stay abreast of changes in the law.
In her free time she enjoys reading and the outdoors.
